For over 60 years, Switch Willo has been a cornerstone of Austin’s equestrian community. Our award-winning summer program — voted Best Equestrian Camp 15 years in a row by Austin Family Magazine — blends structured instruction with classic summer fun for children ages 5 to 12.

Set on 26 beautifully shaded acres just minutes away from the Domain in north Austin, our state-certified facility provides a safe, welcoming environment for young riders of all experience levels. Here, campers don’t just ride — they grow, connect, and thrive through hands-on horse care, teamwork, and skill-building that lasts far beyond the summer.

A Look Inside Camp Switch Willo

Each day is packed with purpose. Campers ride daily, learn how to care for horses, and even get to watch professional farrier (horse shoeing) demonstrations. There are horse care lessons, arts and crafts, a swimming pool to cool off in, and plenty of team-building fun.

On Friday mornings, families are invited to watch their child participate in a horse show — a proud moment for every young rider.

Who Is Camp For?

Camp Switch Willo is designed for kids ages 5 to 12, and no previous riding experience is required. Whether your child has never been around horses or is already horse-obsessed, we meet each camper where they are and help them feel confident and supported.

Our instructors are patient, professional, and specialize in working with younger riders — so your child is in great hands from the very first day.

What to Pack

Once your child is enrolled, we’ll send a full packing list — but here’s a quick look:

• Riding boots (or shoes with a small heel)

• Riding pants or jeans (no shorts while riding)

• Helmet (can be borrowed if needed)

• Swimsuit + towel

• Refillable water bottle + sack lunch

• Optional money for snacks at the Sundry Shack
