Horsemanship Class

This six week, small group class is for riders wanting to enter our Riding Academy. Students learn how to independently handle, groom, and tack up their horses, along with the fundamentals of the hunter/jumper discipline.

What to Expect

Horsemanship Class is the required first step into our Riding Academy at Switch Willo Stables. In six weeks, riders ages 6+ learn the fundamentals of our hunter/jumper discipline and how to groom, tack up, and prepare for a lesson independently.

The first three weeks are groundwork only, and the last three weeks are riding. When the class ends, students schedule a Trial Lesson with our Lesson Director and can be placed into weekly lessons at their appropriate level.

Coming from Camp Switch Willo? This is your perfect next step. It's designed to take your student from camper to confident, independent equestrian!

Parents are encouraged to stay during class. Riding is a sport the whole family gets to be part of, and the more you understand what your rider is learning, the more fun it is for everyone.
